Senior lecturer and researcher in Book History. PhD in Book History, MA in Art History, Lund University and MSc in Conservation (painting, paper, photographs), University of Gothenburg.

In my dissertation thesis Botaniska bilder till allmänheten: Om utgivningen av Carl Lindmans Bilder ur Nordens flora (Stockholm: Atlantis, 2013), I combine my interests in art history, visual studies, materials and techniques, book history and history of science. I investigate how botanists have used images to communicate and inform, and how these images have been created based on the given conditions in a certain era: botanical science, pedagogical ideals, image conventions, materials, printing techniques and book markets.

In addition to teaching in book history, I am currently working on a textbook in book history, and on a research project on paper patterns for home sewing in 1881-1981.

About the research

My research is primarily focused on mass-produced, scientific and instructive images. In my dissertation Botanical illustrations for the public: On the publication of Carl Lindman's Bilder ur Nordens flora (2013), I examined how the botanical plates were created, distributed and received based on the given conditions at the beginning of the 20th century: botanical science, ideas about education, pictorial conventions, economical circumstances, printing technique and book market.

Currently I am working on an article on sewing patterns for the University Library's book on ephemera. I have recently, together with Kristina Lundblad, started working on a textbook in book history.
