I am professor of digital cultures, and a media studies scholar with contemporary and historical interests. I am in charge of the research project Silicon Valley Sweden which investigates the ways U.S. tech entrepreneurship transformed modern Sweden. I have published in journals as Media History, Journal of Documentation, and Journal of Digital History. In 2023 McGill-Queen UP published the co-written From Big Bang to Big Data: A History of the Media. My three latest books in Swedish are a media history of cultural heritage, Kulturarvets mediehistoria. Dokumentation och representation 1750–1950 (2020), a media history of audiovisual archives, Audiovisuella arkiv: en svensk mediehistoria 1930–1990 (2024), and a co-written media history of the Swedish parliament, Riksdagens mediehistoria (2026). Since 2026 I am also the director of SwePrint, a national infrastructure giving access to vast amounts of digitized Swedish print—both as single books and collections as data.
