Medical Humanities

Research node

The node and the research theme

We carry out multidisciplinary research and teaching in the medical humanities which addresses a wide range of issues including public health, health services, biomedical research practices, knowledge production and global health. Specifically, we explore people’s experiences of living with disease, treatment, digitalization and ethical issues that emerge within health care, biomedical research and health policy.  Much of our research is in the Nordic context, focusing on welfare models and their impact on health care and people’s everyday experiences of living with illness. Projects with a global outlook examine topics such as falsified medicines, development aid and sustainability.
