The course provides the students with a survey of the main traits of Swedish music history. The music and its relations to cultural context, tradition, composers, power, ethnicity, gender and Sweden's multi-faceted culture will be discussed. All kinds of Swedish music will be dealt with, from pre-historic sounds via classical composers to the death metal exports of today.
