In this course you will explore Scandinavian cultures and societies, mainly in the 20th and 21st centuries, focusing on how they have been represented in various artistic and popular cultural expressions.
Teaching – spring semester of 2022
From 9 February, more teaching will be conducted on campus. During the gradual return to campus, some digital teaching will continue. Hence, it is very important that you pay attention to information from your teacher and potential changes in your schedule in Canvas and/or TimeEdit.
Through this course you will gain a deeper understanding of the cultural and artistic expressions of Scandinavian societies. In this course, Scandinavia refers to Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. You will discuss influences from other countries and the development of national characteristics in the cultures of the the Scandinavian countries. The course consists of film screenings, lectures, seminars, literature reading, listening to music and group discussions. There may also be occasional excursions to museums or other important institutions and places in Skåne and the Öresund region. The course is aesthetic-humanistic and multidisciplinary, drawing on elements from various humanistic disciplines such as literary studies, film studies, musicology, intermedia studies and ethnology.
