PhD Adam Brenthel researches the visual culture of scientific communication, not through the commonly applied discussion of representation, but through the aesthetic choices scientists always makes. Brenthel analyses climate change images in his doctoral thesis that was defended May 2016. The analysis of the use of these expressive, yet scientific images, are as relevant as the evaluation of the scientifically stringent documentation used to conduct the scientific experiment, when it comes to investigating the power of knowledge construction and affect production in times of rapid global change
