I'm a senior lecturer of Art History and Visual Studies and coordinator of the International Master-programme in Visual Culture.
My main teaching and research interests are in art historiography, methodology, memory studies, aesthetics and theory of visualities from 1500 to the present.
My present research deals with art historiography and aesthetics, especially how art historians have dealt with the birth of art and its conditions of possibility.
Furthermore, I research:
1) how evolution biology influenced the thinking in art history during 1800/1900,
2) how Art History was popularized as an academic disciplin via BBC TV-documentaries during the 1960s,
3) how representations of climate change contribute to an ontodramatization of our existence.
4) the Visual Culture of Education.
I wrote my dissertation "Picture atlas, Visual education and Reproduction. Aby Warburg's Mnemosyne-atlas and the visualization of Art History around 1800/1900" at Copenhagen University.
