I have worked at the department since 2006

(2006-2012 as a lecturer and doctoral student in library and information science. 2012-2025 as a senior lecturer). In 2012, I defended my doctoral thesis and in 2018, I became docent/reader. From 2020 to 2025, I was the director of the Centre for Öresund Region Studies.

The theoretical understanding of the concept of democracy was long lacking in information studies, and I have contributed to a theoretical development of what pluralistic agonism can add to the understanding of information literacy and empirical studies of how democracy is practiced in libraries.

I have suggested that libraries should be understood as a verb. By talking about librarizing, it becomes clear that libraries are created by many actors, including librarians, and that they are constantly evolving and changing. Discussing the content of the work is therefore an important part of library work.

My profile in Lund University research portal

My interest in interdisciplinary research and international collaboration led me to apply for the position of director of the Center for Öresund Region Studies. The center's mission to strengthen and promote encounters between representatives of different academic disciplines, between academia and professional life, and between research and the public is both interesting and important. In a time of growing divides and polarized opinions, researchers have a crucial role to play in contributing to the public debate with well-founded knowledge on current issues based on their research.

2023-2025 I was a member of the steering committee of the "Center for Modern European Studies – An Öresund Network of Lund University, Malmö University and University of Copenhagen" (CEMES), and leader of one of its research groups "Öresund Comparative Borderlands Reseach Group".

From 2023 to 2025, I was project manager for the Swedish part of the international interdisciplinary project “Infrastructuring the Social: Public Libraries and their Transformative Capacity in Austerity Urbanism” (ILIT). ILIT was funded by JPI Urban Europe within Horizon 2020. The project was led by a researcher from the Netherlands and included researchers from the Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden.
