I am professor of digital cultures. I have worked within the cultural heritage sector as Head of Research at the National Library of Sweden, and as a professor of media and communication studies with a focus on the digital humanities at Umea University. I am a media studies scholar with both contemporary and historical interests, currently in charge of the research project Modern Times 1936. I have published in journals as Media History, Journal of Documentation, Journal of Scandinavian Cinema, and Journal of Digital History. In 2019 MIT Press published Spotify Teardown. Inside the Black Box of Streaming Music, and in 2023 McGill-Queen University Press published the co-written From Big Bang to Big Data: A History of the Media. My two latest books in Swedish are a media history of cultural heritage, Kulturarvets mediehistoria. Dokumentation och representation 1750–1950 (2020), and a media history of audiovisual archives, Audiovisuella arkiv: en svensk mediehistoria 1930–1990 (2024).
