Course
Course 7.5 credits • IMSB23
Are you interested in popular culture? More precisely, in how popular culture relates to the concept of aesthetics? In this course, you will explore this through different cultural expressions within the context of 20th-century art and media.
In the course, you will learn about collaborations between different media, discussing advertising, television, music videos, film, literature, music and much more. You will also be introduced to theoretical tools from intermedia studies, cultural sociology, hermeneutics, media history and semiotics. The focus is on contemporary Western culture, particularly from the later years of the 20th century and expressions of postmodern culture. However, you will also study historical episodes from throughout the 20th century.
The course is part of Intermedia Studies, a subject that is aimed at those who are interested in art, music, media and communication and who want to combine these interests in their studies.
This course is also part of IMSA22, Intermedia Studies: Level 2.
