Ellen Suneson is an art historian and visual studies scholar working on modern and contemporary art and scholarly methodologies, with a particular focus on feminist and queer feminist perspectives. She currently holds a postdoc position divided between the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies at Copenhagen University and the Division for Art History and Visual Studies at Lund University (Jan 2024 - Dec 2026). Her postdoc project, titled "To show but not tell: on themes of passivity, submission, and internalization in 1970s Nordic feminist art", is founded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). Suneson holds a PhD from the Division of Art History and Visual Studies at Lund University and defended her doctoral dissertation "Portraying Unease: the Art and Politics of Uncomfortable Attachments" (Makadam Förlag) in 2022. Her research interests include emotional responses to art, institutional theory, and genealogies of the study of modern and contemporary art.
