Reflection in healthcare professional education – how do we improve our reflective practice?

24 november 2026 16:30 till 18:00 Lecture

How can we foster practical judgement, professional reflection, and reflective practice in meaningful and effective ways? Welcome to an open lecture with international renown guest Elizabeth Anne Kinsella, McGill University

Elizabeth Anne Kinsella is Professor and Director of the Institute of Health Sciences Education at McGill University, one of the world's leading centres for research in health professions education. With a background in occupational therapy, she conducts interdisciplinary research on phronesis (practical wisdom), reflection, and reflective practice in the health professions, and is widely recognised as a leading scholar in the field.

On 24 November, Elizabeth Anne Kinsella will give an open lecture, free and open to all with no registration required, exploring the role of reflection in professional education. This is a topic of broad interest, but it is also particularly timely in the age of AI, when traditional written forms of assessment and reflection no longer serve the same purpose as before. How can we foster practical judgement, professional reflection, and reflective practice in meaningful and effective ways?

Join us for a lecture offering both theoretical perspectives and practical insights into these important questions.

Host: Katarina Bernhardsson, Centre for Languages and Literature. Assistant Centre Director, Birgit Rausing Centre for Medical Humanities.
