Kurs
Kurs 7,5 högskolepoäng • IMSB26
This course deals with popular culture as an aesthetic and cultural-historical phenomenon, where intermedial dimensions in different cultural phenomena are particularly emphasized.
Moreover, the course will take a specific aspect of popular culture focusing on what it means to experience it in different live events, such as concerts, sport events, stand-up comedy, festivals, and activities related to the experience industry, and everyday life culture phenomena. The course will also take a focus on historical perspectives on popular culture.
During the course, methods relevant to the study of live events will be highlighted, such as field work, participatory observations, interviews, etc. as well as theoretical analyses grounded in intermediality theory. The student will make use of one method in an individual, minor study that deals with a live event (individually chosen).
This course is also included in IMSA22, Intermedia Studies: Level 2.
