Björn Ekström, Högskolan i Borås

The proliferation and dissemination of climate obstruction comprises societal concerns as contrarian climate knowledge sprawls across information systems, platforms and novel technologies such as foundation models, including large language models. In this seminar, Björn Ekström (Swedish School of Library and Information Science) presents ongoing research on how datafied climate obstruction fluctuates and spreads in a variety of formats and scales across the web and beyond.

Björn Ekström is Lecturer at the Swedish School of Library and Information Science (SSLIS), University of Borås, currently doing postdoctoral research within Mistra Environmental Communication. His research interests include human and non-human engagement with information in different situations, such as scholarly conduct, interactions between scholars and non-scholars, and in regard to environmental issues. He currently examines environmental data and apps in everyday life as well as the datafication and algorithmic shaping of climate change knowledge and climate obstruction.
