Dr. Alexandra Middleton, University of Copenhagen

Alexandra Middleton is Assistant Professor of medical anthropology at the Centre for Medical Science and Technology Studies at the University of Copenhagen. Her research explores the everyday, embodied and sensorial experiences of people living with highly experimental medical technologies. She holds a PhD in anthropology from Princeton University. In this talk, Middleton will explore the intersections of frontier technoscience, lived experience, and contemporary cultural politics of reproduction in the context of emerging reproductive technologies—specifically stem cell-based embryo models and uterus transplantation—in the US, Denmark and Sweden.
