Mit hovedsagelige forskningsfokus er street art som kunstnerisk og socialt fænomen. Jeg har skrevet om emnet siden 2006.
I 2014 publicerede Almendros de Granada Press min første bog, The Street Art World. I 2018 fulgte bogen Street Art and the Environment.
For nuværende arbejder jeg på en monografi, der fokuserer på udforskning af graffiti ved hjælp af eksperimenter med visuelle metoder.
Sammen med professor Max Liljefors forsker jeg også i projektet
Art Worlds Apart, som finansieres af Vetenskapsrådet (2022-2024).
Fra oktober 2018 til maj 2019 koordinerede jeg forskningstemaet
Urban Creativity ved Pufendorfinstitutet ved Lunds universitet.
I maj 2019 var jeg med til at grundlægge det interdisciplinære forskningsnetværk Urban Creativity Lund.
